Unconstrained bond specialist Romain Mercier has joined Bruno Crastes’ independent investment firm H2O Asset Management, Citywire Selector has learned.
Mercier had spent 12 years with Amundi across a range of roles, including risk manager and absolute return portfolio manager during his tenure with the French firm.
It is understood he stepped down from Amundi’s London branch earlier this year and assumed a portfolio manager post with H2O AM over the summer, although it was not made public at the time.
It was following Dubreuil’s departure from Amundi in early 2015 that Mercier was moved to cover more portfolio management responsibilities.
The H2O MultiAggregate has returned 11% over the past year in the Bonds – Global Flexible sector in US dollar terms. The average of the 151 funds operating in the sector returned 6% over the same period to the end of October 2017.
