In this round-up, research analyst Tania Pérez showcases the star performers posting ratings-worthy performances in Alternative Ucits for the month of November.
In November 2017, there are a total of 201 rated managers in this universe distributed in 29 AAA, 39 AA, 57 A and 76 Citywire + ratings. This includes 12 first timers this month under our Alt Ucits ratings methodology.
Highest new entrants
From those first timers only two managers have achieved a rating above Citywire + rating, with both achieving an A rating.
Drew Figdor of TIG Advisors is recognised for his work managing the Lyxor/Tiedemann Arbitrage Strategy Fund EB EUR fund. This sits within the Alt Ucits – Event Driven and Figdor has been awarded with an A rating.
Among the rest of first timers we can highlight the GAM trio of Lars Jaeger, Pierre-Yves Moix and Stephan Muller who have achieved their first rating ever. They enter with a Citywire + rating for their work on GAM Systematic Alternative Risk Premia EUR Ins Acc fund within the Alt Ucits - Multi Strategy sector.
On the rise
Among those rising up the ratings, several managers have moved into AAA-rated territory, such as Teemu Liikanen of Danske Invest, who runs the Danske Invest Neutral Kasvu fund in Alternative Ucits – Bond Strategies sector. Liikanen has stepped up from a AA rating in October. He has consistently been rated since July 2016.
Co-managers Adrian Daniel and Patrick Vogel have also stepped up from a AA rating in October to a AAA in November. They manage the MainFirst - Absolute Return Multi Asset A fund within the Mixed Assets – Absolute Return Euro sector. They were first Citywire rated in May 2016.
From Franklin Templeton Investments, co-managers David C. Saunders, Brooks Ritchey and Robert Christian, who manage the Franklin K2 Alternative Strategies A (acc) EUR-H1 fund in Alternative Ucits – Funds of Funds, have also stepped up to be AAA.
They run the FP Pictet Multi Asset Portfolio A Acc fund at Pitect, fund within the Mixed Assets – Absolute Return GBP. They were last award a rating in September 2014.
David Clott and Shawn Mato of Aviva Investors are also back to the ratings with a Citywire +, which is a year after their last Citywire rating. They manage the Aviva Investors Global Cnvs Abs Rtn Ih EUR fund in Alternatives Ucits - Convertibles.
