In the most recent ratings round-up, which covered May 2017, a total of 170 Alt Ucits managers received a Citywire rating for their respective risk-adjusted performance.
From this 19 were AAA-rated, 48 AA, 38 A and 65 are now Citywire + rated.
In this round-up Tania Perez takes a closer look at the standout names among the newly-rated, who has risen up the rankings and which managers have made the most astonishing comebacks.
There are five first timers this month under our Alt Ucits ratings methodology:
All four are Citywire + rated for the first time. The quartet co-manage the PTR-Corto Europe-P EUR fund, within the Alternative Ucits – Long/Short Equity sector.
Among those managers on the up this month we can mention the following stand-out performers:
Liontrust’s James Inglis-Jones and Samantha Gleave, who run the Liontrust GF European Strategic Equity fund within the Alternative Ucits – Long/Short Equity sector, have stepped up to a AA rating from an A rating. This is their first AA rating within the alternative Ucits universe.
Among those returning to the ratings fold this month are:
UBS duo Romain Lahoste and Emmanuel Régnier are back in the analysis with a AAA rating. They manage the UBS – Flex Croissance and UBS – Flex Patrimonie funds, both in Alternative Ucits – Funds of Funds sector. They were last awarded with a Citywire A rating in June 2016.
He was last rated in January 2013, when he was Citywire A rated for his work on the Henderson HF Pan European Alpha A2 EUR fund. Both funds sit in the Alternative Ucits Long/Short Equity sector.
There is another comeback star at Artemis, as fellow long/short manager Stephen Moore, who runs the Artemis US Absolute Return I EUR Hedged fund, is back with a Citywire + rating. He achieved his last rating in January 2014, while he was managing two other funds in the same sector at Columba Threadneedle.
After 16 months, Jonathan Stanford of GAM is also back among the ratings. He was awarded with a Citywire + for running the GAM Star (LUX) Convertible Alpha C EUR Fund within the Alternative Ucits – Convertible sector.
