In this round-up, research analyst Tania Pérez showcases the star performers posting ratings-worthy performances in Alternative Ucits for the month of September.
In September 2017, there are a total of 172 rated managers in this universe, which breaks down as 19 AAA, 41 AA, 44 A and 68 Citywire + ratings.
Co-managers Raffaele Savi and Travis Cooke of BlackRock have achieved their first rating ever, entering with a Citywire + rating while managing the BSF Americas Diversified Equity Abs Ret A2 EUR. This sits within the Bond Strategies sector.
Another pair of co-managers rated for the first time this month are Andreas Zehnder and Pedro Cameron, who received a Citywire + rating. They work at Tell AG and run the Swiss Hedge Twintrade EUR D Class fund. This fund sit in the Alt Ucits – Long/Short Equity sector.
Meanwhile, Schroders’ Daniel Ineichen has been awarded a Citywire A rating for his work on the Schroder GAIA Cat Bond EUR Hedged F Acc fund, within the Alt Ucits – Bond Strategies sector. His fund was just reclassified from Global Bonds to Alt Ucits – Bond strategies at the end of August, and hence he has just become eligible under this methodology and newly awarded.
On the rise
Co-managers Romain Lahoste and Emmanuel Réginer from UBS AM, who co-run the UBS (F) - Flex Croissance (EUR) I Eur and the UBS (F) - Flex Patrimoine (EUR) I Eur funds within the Alt Ucits – Fund of Funds sector, have stepped up to be AAA rated having been AA rated last month.
Meanwhile, Jean-Baptiste Delabare has risen from his A rating to be AA-rated for his work at Financiere Arbevel on the Pluvalca Evolution Europe A fund. This lies in the Mixed Assets – Absolute Return EUR section.
Bank of America Merrill Lynch’ David G. Kabiller has also achieved his first AA stepping up from an A rating. He manages the MLIS AQR Global Relative Value UCITS EUR A Acc fund which is within the Alternative Ucits – Multi Strategy.
In September there were three managers who came back to the ratings. Newly Citywire AAA-rated Jan Ehrhardt from DJE Kapital is recognised for his risk-adjusted returns on the DJE – Zins & Dividende I fund in the Mixed Assets – Absolute Return EUR sector.
Also returning to the fold are Stefan Gries from BlackRock who runs the BSF European Absolute Return A2 EUR fund. Long/short equity manager Gries was last awarded a Citywire rating in July 2016 when he was also previously Citywire + rated.
Brooks Macdonald Funds’ Jonathan Gumpel manages the IFSL Brooks Macdonald Defensive Capital B Acc Fund. He is Citywire + rated for his work in the Mixed Asset – Absolute Return GBP sector and was last awarded a Citywire A rating back in April 2016.
