12. Swiss group poaches Pictet fund selector

Geneva-based independent asset manager Wealth Solutions Partners poached Pictet & Cie fund selector Philippe Darbellay last month. Darbellay joined as partner and works alongside WSP founding partner Hervé Croset, who launched the firm in summer 2016.

11. AXA IM reveals leadership reshuffle amid senior exits

AXA Investment Managers has made several changes to its senior leadership following the departure of two high-profile investment team members. Isabelle Scemama was appointed CEO of AXA IM Real Assets, replacing Pierre Vaquier, who left the firm to pursue other interests.

Elsewhere, Heidi Ridley was appointed CEO of Rosenberg Equities. Both Ridley and Scemama will report to the group's CEO Andrea Rossi. Ridley replaced Jeremy Baskin formally on 1 March. Baskin will remain at the firm in an advisory capacity for several months to ensure a smooth transition.

10. T. Rowe snaps up AA-rated manager and HY fund

Citywire AA-rated Kevin Loome is to take his high yield bond fund with him when he swaps Henderson Global Investors for T. Rowe Price over the next quarter. The Baltimore-based asset manager has purchased the US-domiciled Henderson High Yield Opportunities fund, which will be reorganised into a new T. Rowe Price product.

9. Ex-Oddo AM multi-manager chief named Tocqueville CEO

Mirela Agache Durand was named chief executive officer of Tocqueville Finance from Hervé Guiriec, the French firm’s parent company announced last month. Agache Durand took on a directorial role at La Banque Postale Asset Management in late 2014 after having served as head of multi-management at Oddo Asset Management.

8. Ex-Templeton multi-asset CIO joins Canadian giant

Brent Smith, the former chief investment officer for multi-asset strategies at Franklin Templeton, has joined Canadian investment group ATB Financial in a portfolio manager role. Smith initially launched his own investment boutique, called Azimuth Private Wealth Management, after his 2014 departure from the US-based asset manager.

7. Nordea AM consolidates fundamental equities team

Nordea Asset Management has brought all of its international equity funds under the scope of its fundamental equities team in an effort to strengthen its management organisation. The move means the 29-strong team will now collectively oversee all global, European and emerging market equity strategies under one central investment house view and shared analytics platform.

6. Top Swiss selector swaps Geneva for Saudi SWF

Swiss fund selection stalwart Cyril Urfer has left Gonet & Cie to take up a portfolio manager post at Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. Urfer had served as chief investment officer and head of asset allocation at Geneva-based Gonet & Cie since March 2012. He formally stepped down in December.

5. Natixis Global Asset Management names new CEO

Natixis Global Asset Management has hired Jean Raby (pictured) to replace Pierre Servant as the group's chief executive. Raby was most recently the chief financial officer at French telecoms group SFR, a role he left in September last year.

4. H2O AM bolsters PM line-up with two new names

Bruno Crastes’ boutique, H2O Asset Management, has bolstered its fund manager line-up with two newly promoted names added to the unit. Analysts Natasha Clendinnen and Charles de Vazelhes have been formally named as portfolio managers within the London-based group.

3. GAM hires Henderson’s head of global equities

GAM has hired an equity market veteran from rivals Henderson Global Investors to create a new management role to help bolsters its equity operations, the company has announced. Matthew Beesley will become head of equities at GAM starting from 6 March 2017.

2. Swiss selector resurfaces at Bank Safra Sarasin

Former Citywire Selector cover star Daniel Zachmann joined Bank Safra Sarasin having previously dropped out of fund selection to focus on a gluten-free food venture. Citywire Selector understands Zachmann joined the Basel-based group in January in an unspecified investment role. He is based in Geneva.

1. Manager of $22 billion BlackRock fund to retire

Bob Shearer is to end a two-decade stint with BlackRock and relinquish responsibilities for $22 billion worth of funds. Shearer is currently a named manager on the $21.7 billion Equity Dividend fund, which is US-domiciled, as well as the Ucits-compliant BGF North American Equity Income and UK-domiciled North American Income Trust.
