Standard Life Investments (SLI) has unveiled an unconstrained global emerging market equity fund.
The Global Emerging Markets (GEM) Unconstrained Sicav will invest in between 30 and 50 stocks and be managed by Ross Teverson. It will follow a stock specific investment approach with a risk overlay.
Teverson will invest in companies from across both the emerging and frontier markets and will operate without benchmark constraints.
Commenting on the launch, Teverson said: ‘A combination of lower indebtedness, supportive demographics and an emerging consumer class is positive for GEM equities and increased trade between emerging economies means emerging market growth is becoming more self-sustaining.’
‘Emerging markets are no longer just a geared play on developed markets.’
At present, Standard Life Investments has a number of emerging market country-specific funds in its fund range – such as the Standard Life Sicav China Equities and Standard Life Sicav Indian Equities funds.
