Schroders has appointed a co-manager to work alongside Citywire AA-rated James Sym, Citywire Selector has learned.
James Rutland will work with Sym on the Schroder ISF European Equity Focus fund from the end of August, a spokesperson for the asset manager confirmed. Rutland has been working as an analyst for the Schroders since 2014.
Prior to joining Schroders, Rutland worked at Goldman Sachs as an equity analyst from April 2010. He also spent time as an analyst at Evercore Partners.
Commenting on the appointment, a spokesperson for the company said: ‘We can confirm that James Rutland has been appointed co-manager of Schroder ISF European Focus with effect from 31 August, working alongside James Sym.’
‘Schroders believes in promoting high calibre people to ensure the long-term success of the business. James Rutland has worked with James Sym since November 2014 as a research analyst on the Business Cycle team and we feel his experience and knowledge will be beneficial to clients.’
Over three years to July 2016 the Schroder ISF European Equity Focus fund returned 7.23% in euro terms. This compares with a rise of 24.26% by its Citywire-assigned benchmark, the FTSE World Europe TR EUR, over the same time period.
