Schroders has hired former Wellington Management and BlackRock currency specialist Bogdan Popovici to work under global head of macro Bob Jolly (pictured).
Popovici has experience in both fixed income and currency investments, having served as macro portfolio manager on global rates and FX at Wellington Management, which manages over $784 billion in global assets, in its London offices since 2011.
Earlier in his career, Popovici worked within the alpha strategies division at BlackRock between 2007 and 2011, where he had overseen fixed income funds totaling $25 billion in assets under management.
Commenting on the appointment, Bob Jolly said: ‘Bogdan is a highly skilled fixed income and currency fund manager and we are pleased that he has joined us to specialise in managing our global multi-sector funds, along with the rest of the team.’
Jolly said the addition of Popovici is intended to further bolster the 100-strong fixed income group, which is comprised of specialist analysts and portfolio managers throughout the world.
At present, Jolly covers seven funds covering global, European, inflation-linked and macro bond strategies.
