Asset manager Schroders has handed its high-conviction European equity fund to Citywire AA-rated James Sym, Citywire Selector has learned.
Bateman and Adler had co-managed the €8 million, Luxembourg-domiciled fund since its launch in March 2011. Bateman continues to co-run the Schroder ISF European Large Cap fund, while Adler has moved to the global equities team.
In a statement to Citywire Selector, Schroders said the change was designed to allow Sym to utilise his investment style across a wider-range of funds, while also opening his abilities to a new range of investors.
A spokesperson said: ‘The change in management will enable clients outside of the UK to access James’ business cycle investing style that until now has only been available through a UK Authorised Unit Trust.’
The Schroder ISF European Equity fund returned 13.6% in euro terms over the three years to the end of January 2016. Its Citywire-assigned benchmark, the FTSE World Europe TR EUR, rose 28.1% over the same timeframe.
