Pictet Asset Management has launched a fund consisting of the best ideas from within its own thematic equity teams, the Swiss asset manager has announced.
The Pictet Global Thematic Opportunities fund, which is primarily aimed at institutional investors, will be managed by Gertjan van der Geer and Hans-Peter Portner, who is head of thematic equities.
This new strategy is an extension of the $4 billion Pictet-Global Megatrends Selection fund, which is also managed by Portner. It is it equally weighted across nine investment themes.
The asset manager’s thematic funds encompass social, demographic, environmental and technological forces of change that shape the investment world.
Commenting on the launch, Portner said: 'By bringing together our highest convictions from across the investment themes, we can construct a concentrated portfolio of companies that will benefit most from intersecting megatrends, or long-term structural forces of change.'
The fund is currently registered for sale in Austria, Germany, the UK, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Norway.
