The latest Citywire analysis reveals the managers who have joined the Europe's elite after receiving their first ever rating this month.
The ratings were awarded for the managers long term risk-adjusted performance and in July only a handful of managers were awarded the coveted Citywire AAA rating. The following list is a selection of the most highly rated managers to make their first ever appearance in the rankings.
The list starts off with Swedish duo Adam Nyström and Gustaf Setterblad from little known boutique Didner & Gerge Fonder. Both managers received an AAA rating for their Didner & Gerge Smabolag which is focused on the Nordic equity sector.
It has been a good couple of years for the Stockholm-based pair as they also came fourth in Citywire’s top ten best performing managers since the bottom of the crisis rankings published on Thursday.
The three remaining managers to have received an AAA rating all operate in the bond sector. Austrian manager Andreas Auer was also among the managers receiving an AAA rating. He joined his current group Guttman KAG in 2008 and has been running the firm’s global bond fund Gutmann Investor Renten Global since his arrival.
Another bond manager to join Europe’s top rated managers is French manager Emmanuel Petit from Rothschild & Cie. He received his rating for his Elan Euro Credit fund which focuses on the European bond fund
Continuing the trend of newly rated bond managers we head towards the emerging markets which have also proved successful for a few select managers. One of them is Cornel Bruhin of Clariden Leu who was awarded an AAA rating for the risk-adjusted performance of his firm’s Emerging Market Bond fund which he has been running since January 2009.
Next in the list are the managers to have received a Citywire AA rating for their risk-adjusted performance. Among them is Aziz Unan who works for Griffin Capital Management and runs the Griffin Ottoman fund which focuses on the emerging europe equity market. Next is Douglas Turnbull of Neptune who runs the firm’s Asia Pacific Opportunites fund.
Here are the remaining managers to have received an AA rating: Ewout V. Schaick who runs ING Patrimonial Aggressive P Cap; Françis Guyonnet of AG2R who runs Ethis Serenite; Frédéric Penel who runs CCR Credit Spread 2011; Hideki Kamiya of Amundi who runs SG Actions Japon Selection; Mårten Agneskog who runs Swedbank Robur Access Offensiv; Ryusuke Ohori who runs JPM Japan 50 Equity; and Yannick Lopez who runs OFI Euro Investment Grade.
