JPMorgan Asset Management has closed Citywire AA-rated Amit Mehta's emerging market small-caps fund to new investors, Citywire Selector has learned.
The JPM Emerging Markets Small Cap fund was soft-closed after hitting capactiy constraints, a spokesperson for the asset manager confirmed.
According to the latest available factsheet, assets under management in the fund were $1.37 billion on 31 March. This had risen to $1.58 billion on 11 April according to the JP Morgan website.
The fund has been managed by Mehta since May 2012, while Austin Forey joined him on the fund in February 2016.
The soft closure follows the news that Mehta had stepped back from the JPM Emerging Markets Opportunities fund to focus his full attention on managing the JPM Emerging Markets Small Cap fund.
Over three years to the end of March 2017, the JPM Emerging Markets Small Cap fund returned 24.41% in US dollar terms.
This compares to a rise of 5.97% by its Citywire-assigned benchmark, the MSCI EM (Emerging Markets) Small Cap TR USD, over the same time frame.
