Janus Henderson has hired Columbia Threadneedle’s global head of fixed income, Jim Cielinski, the asset manager has announced.
Columbia Threadneedle announced his departure on September 21, with Colin Lundgren, who is currently head of US fixed income and deputy global head of fixed income, stepping into the role.
Cielinski joined Columbia Threadneedle in 2010 as head of fixed income and was a named manager across several funds, including Columbia Global Bond.
Lundgren, who oversees US-domiciled funds, will report to Colin Moore, global chief investment officer and brings with him 31 years of investment experience.
Janus Henderson said Cielinski will formally join on November 1 and sit within the company’s London headquarters.
Cielinski replaces Kumar Palghat, who was named global head of fixed income shortly after the merger of Janus Henderson in October of last year. Palghat remains with the company despite the change in role.
Palghat's boutique, Kapstream Capital, was purchased by Janus Henderson in July 2015.
The move reunited Palghat with former Pimco colleague and co-manager Bill Gross and initially saw him assigned to assist Gross on his unconstrained bond fund.
