Invesco Perpetual has hired another fund manager from Standard Life Investments to bolster its multi-asset team, the company has announced.
Sebastian Mackay will join the investment manager in September 2016 from Standard Life Investments, where he was involved in the management of the £1.1 billion (€1.2 billion) Standard Life Investments Global SICAV Absolute Return Global Bond Strategy fund, otherwise known as GARS.
Before joining Standard Life Investments in 2011, Mackay started his career in 2000 at Scottish Windows Investment Partnership where he held a number of roles.
Mackay will join the team of 10 investment professionals which include former SLI colleagues Dave Jubb, Richard Batty and Invesco's head of multi-asset David Millar. The team currently manage £9.6 billion (€12.1 billion) in assets.
The team has developed its own multi-asset investment vehicle, called Global Total Return (GTR), which is the flagship fund for the unit which was assembled in late 2012.
Commenting on the new appointment, Millar said: ‘Sebastian’s strong macro background from time as an economist on the bond team with me at Scottish Widows Investment Partnership, combined with the extensive fund management expertise he gained both there and at Standard Life Investments, makes him the ideal candidate to take forward our offering into the multi asset targeted income space.’
