Citywire A-rated manager Thomas Hugger’s boutique Asia Frontier Capital has launched its flagship frontier markets fund as a Luxembourg-domiciled vehicle.
The AFC Asia Frontier Fund (Lux) was formally launched on September 20 by the Hong Kong-based group to allow greater European investor participations.
It was launched under the LS Opportunities Fund Sicav-FIS, which is managed by Estonia-based Limestone Platform.
Citywire has previously highlighted Hugger, who is CEO and founder of the group, for the strong performance of the Cayman Islands-domiciled version of the fund, AFC Asia Frontier which was launched in 2012.
Renowned investor Marc Faber is a shareholder of Asia Frontier Capital and he said the move would allow European investors to diversify into faster-growing markets.
AFC said it would look to build distribution relationships with Finland, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.
