French boutique Cogefi Gestion has hired Benjamin Rousseau as head of small and mid caps equities to replace Barthélémy Debray, the firm has announced.
Rousseau joins the group from CM-CIC Asset Management. There he spent six years managing funds and mandates covering French and European small and mid caps.
He takes over from Debray who left the group in January to join Lombard Odier, it is understood.
In the role of head of small and mid caps, Rousseau has joined the team of six fund managers and reports to Cogefi Gestion's CEO, Hugues Aurousseau, as well as Anne d’Anselme, who is deputy CEO.
Rousseau started his career at CM-CIC Securities on the sell side as a financial analyst in 2007 before moving to the asset management arm in 2011.
In April 2017, the group shifted the strategy of its flagship Cogefi Prospective fund from focusing solely on French equities to international global equities.
In a shareholder note, the firm said the decision to expand the investment universe was made as it identified opportunities on international markets.
