Franklin Templeton Investments have soft-launched a new multi-manager liquid alternatives fund, the company has announced.
The Franklin K2 Global Macro Opportunities fund will invest across global macro-orientated alternative strategies. It is designed to help investors during periods of volatility.
The strategies will be sub-advised by institutional-quality managers and those will be selected by an investment management team from K2 Advisors, a firm which Franklin Templeton acquired in 2012.
The management team consists of Brooks Ritchey and Rob Christian, who are both senior managing directors at K2 Advisors, as well as Anthony Zanolla.
The initial set of sub-advisors will include Aspect Capital Limited, Emso Asset Management Limited and Graham Capital Management.
The sub-advisors will invest in a wide range of global exchange traded and over the counter derivative instruments, providing exposure to a range of long and/or short global asset classes.
The fund may also hold a variety of securities including equities and credit instruments including sovereign and corporate bonds.
This is the second liquid alternatives fund in the range following the launch of the Franklin K2 Alternatives Strategies fund. It will be available to Luxembourg-based investors from November 25.
Commenting on the launch,Vivek Kudva, managing director, EMEA and India for Franklin Templeton said: ‘K2 has a long history of world class risk management and expertise for seeking out hedge strategies that exhibit lower volatility and lower correlation to the broad capital markets.’
‘This, complemented by Franklin Templeton’s global resources in research, risk management and technology, makes for a compelling offering to investors looking to overcome the significant increase in volatility experienced across today’s global markets.’
