Artemis Investment Management has hired five new members of Threadneedle Investments' US equity team to rejoin their former team leader Cormac Weldon.
The latest additions to the London boutique's US equity team include fund manager and tech specialist William Warren and analysts Olivia Miller, Chris Kent, Nafis Chowdhury and Paul Gannon.
They have reunited with former Threadneedle head of US equities Weldon and fund manager Stephen Moore who both left the firm to join Artemis in January.
The group is also planning to launch a number of funds later this year, according to Artermis' head of retail Richard Purglove.
'Subject to regulatory approval, we will be launching five funds for them towards the end of Q3 this year,' said Purglove. 'These funds will include long-only and long-short strategies for distribution in the UK and Europe.'
'This significant development for Artemis broadens further the asset classes available to our clients. And given the team’s record, we are confident that they will meet or exceed investors’ expectations.'
Since Weldon's departure from Threadneedle, Diane Sobin has assumed his role as head of US equities. Sobin, who joined Threadneedle from Columbia Management in September 2011, will report to Leigh Harrison, head of equities at Threadneedle.
In addition to adding to its London-based team, Threadneedle said it will increase its collaboration with Columbia Management’s US equities team.
Columbia Management is the US-based asset management subsidiary of Threadneedle’s parent company, Ameriprise Financial.
