The former chief investment officer for multi-asset strategies at Franklin Templeton has joined Canadian investment group ATB Financial in a portfolio manager role.
However, Citywire Selector has now learned that Smith has assumed a portfolio manager role at ATB Financial, which oversee C$43.1 billion ($32.6 billion).
It is understood Smith will be the bank's first institution-focused portoflio manager. He formally joined the Alberta-based group at the start of February 2017.
It is also understood that Smith will not retain a role with Florida-based Azimuth upon taking the new post.
He co-founded Azimuth in 2015 with Alex Hug and ran multi-asset portfolios with a strong emphasis on risk-targeted strategies, using a quant-backed risk assessment process coupled with tailored investment approaches.
