Pimco’s former head of dividend, Brad Kinkelaar, has resurfaced in a portfolio manager role at Texas-based value investment shop Barrow Hanley, Citywire Selector has learned.
It is understood Kinkelaar joined the Dallas company in the final quarter of 2017, which marked his return to fund management after having left Pimco in mid-2016.
Kinkelaar ended his near-five-year stint with California-based Pimco amid wider changes to the group, which included the entire dividend equity team departing.
In his new capacity, Kinkelaar is assigned to the firm’s global and non-US value strategies. His appointment – along with that of Charlie Radtke – weas designed to bolster the group’s portfolio management ranks ahead of the planned retirement of David Hodges.
Hodges will remain involved with the firm and strategies to ensure continuity and a smooth transition of his responsibilities to our other team members.
During his time at Pimco, Kinkelaar had built and implemented several dividend-focused strategies and been a named manager on eight funds at the time of his departure.
