Former Citywire A-rated manager Bill Stormont has joined a cryptocurrency investment firm as chief executive officer.
Around nine months after leaving the group, he joined Absolute Strategy Research in a sales role covering macro data. While there, he targeted the US and Canadian market.
The company, called First Block Capital, is believed to be the first fully-registered cryptocurrency investment firm in Canada.
Stormont will serve as CEO, while entrepreneurs Marc van der Chijs and Sean C. Clark oversaw the launch of the firm in May 2017.
Speaking to Citywire Selector about the move, Stormont said: 'I initially began looking at the opportunity in bitcoin and block chain technology as one would any asset class.
'The more I learned, the more I became interested in the potential disruptive impact of both and began looking for ways to become more involved in the sector.'
In literature for the company, First Block Capital said it was established by global entrepreneurs committed to providing investment exposure to the emerging digital asset class based on blockchain technology.
