Eastspring Investments has launched a new equity fund designed to capture deep value opportunities in the Japanese stock market, Citywire Global understands.
The fund, which is Luxembourg-domiciled, is called the Eastspring Investments–Japan Fundamental Value fund and will be run on a team-managed basis.
The fund is designed to achieve long-term capital growth through companies which are based or do the majority of their business in Japan.
In addition, the fund will have a strong emphasis on finding stocks which are deemed to have low valuations compared to history and the current market.
Meanwhile, the Eastspring Investments – Japan Fundamental Value fund may also invest in depository receipts including ADRs and GDRs, convertible bonds, and preference shares issued by Japan entities.
This marks the fourth Japanese equity strategy launched by Eastspring Investments in its Luxembourg-domiciled fund range.
