The quest for innovation in an increasingly homogenous world was at the forefront of Citywire Global New Ideas 2017, where we examined how to find new strategies to cope with difficult climates and market conditions.
Keynote speaker Bruno Marion, who is a futurist and philosopher, explained how an increasingly chaotic world could cause a total collapse of the system or lead to new breakthroughs.
Marion recommended that people should look to fractals in nature to generate fresh thinking. He said that instead of trying to control the chaos, investors should create systems to deal with it.
Meanwhile, Leyla Acaroglu uncovered how humans are influenced by innate biases which stem from chemicals. The self-styled sustainability provocateur said these biases can prevent people making changes, even if they are aware of them. She also explained how people need to question the world around them and how failure could often lead to innovation.
