Workshops:

Lars Schickentanz, ANIMA Sgr

ANIMA Funds Star Market Neutral Europe
ANIMA Funds Star High Potential Europe

Anima's head of investments, mutual funds and head of its European Equity desk, Lars Schickentanz will present Anima absolute return strategies.

ANIMA PRIMA Funds Star Market Neutral Europe seek to provide an absolute rate of return, minimising the correlation with the underlying equity market, in the medium term mainly through investments in a diversified portfolio of European equities, as well as in financial derivatives instruments.

The ANIMA PRIMA Funds Star High Potential Europe aims to provide an absolute rate of return, while seeking long-term capital appreciation by investing in a flexible and very dynamic diversified portfolio consisting of European equities, debt instruments, money market and short term instruments. This is as well as long and short positions in derivatives.

Mark Wauton, Aviva Investors

Aviva Investors Global Absolute Return Credit Fund

The Aviva Investors Global Absolute Return Credit Fund aims to actively manage the sources of risk and achieve a positive risk adjusted return under all market conditions by investing predominantly in higher yielding securities.

In this workshop Mark Wauton, head of credit at Aviva, will explain the investment strategy and how a dynamic allocation between European and US credit leads to global diversification and mitigation of sector concentration and sovereign risk.

Luca Pesarini/Arnoldo Valsangiacomo, ETHNA Funds

'The art of balancing risk and return'

The portfolio managers Luca Pesarini and Arnoldo Valsangiacomo from the Luxembourg-headquartered investment boutique Ethna Funds will present their flagship fund Ethna-AKTIV E. They will discuss how the fund aims to achieve a positive return by taking a low degree of risk through combining flexibility with balance. Following the principle of risk diversification, the fund invests in liquid funds, bonds and up to 49% in shares.

James Rutherford, Hermes Fund Managers

Hermes Sourcecap European Equity Alpha Fund

CIO and lead portfolio manager of Hermes Sourcecap European Equity Alpha Fund, James Rutherford takes a high-alpha and high-conviction approach to European equities. He is focused on stock selection in a thematic framework that takes advantage of the power of "change".

Europe represents over one-third of global GDP and has some of the best known global brand name companies. James Rutherford will explain how his long-term investment approach is designed to take advantage of this large and diverse opportunity-set to create consistent outperformance.

Pieter Busscher, Sustainable Asset Management

SAM Smart Materials Fund

Pieter Busscher will discuss how he aims to achieve high returns through sustainable investments over the long term. In this workshop he will explain how he constructs his portfolio consisting of global companies which provide technology, products or services relating to the extraction and efficient handling of raw materials, recycling of used resources and innovative alternative materials.

Main session:

On-going uncertainty over the Sovereign Debt Crisis

The liquidity injected into the market by the ECB's refinancing operations has only bought time without solving the problem in the Eurozone. Demand at the ECB auctions has eased some liquidity risks, but fear has returned to the Eurozone and markets seem to be testing the ECB's willingness to intervene again.

In this climate, is a sustainable resolution to the Eurozone sovereign crisis really possible? And are the high yields of the European sovereign bonds in fact an investment opportunity rather than a signal to sell? Furthermore, how can investors translate the European sovereign crisis into a successful investment strategy?

An interactive session with Philipp Vorndran and leading sovereign debt specialists including Dr. Tatjana Greil Castro, portfolio manager at Muzinich & Co, as well as Alia Yousuf of ACPI Investment Partners will tackle all these issues.

The event will be reported in Citywire Global magazine, our monthly publication serving the fund selector community.

Our forums have proved extremely popular with Europe's largest fund selectors, so places are strictly limited and by invitation only. A quick response should ensure that you do not miss out.
