Carmignac Gestion has appointed long/short equity specialist Vincent Steenman as it positions its management team to cater for Maxime Carmignac’s forthcoming maternity leave.
Steenman joins from Zadig Asset Management and will take over the lead role on the Carmignac Market Neutral fund from January 2013. He will also serve on its alternative strategies team.
Maxime Carmignac is currently the sole lead manager on the Luxembourg-domiciled long/short equity portfolio. She is set to take up management responsibilities within Carmignac when she returns.
Carmignac said Steenman had been brought on board due to his experience in long/short fund management, having overseen this for five years at Zadig.
Prior to joining Zadig – which has operations in London and Luxembourg – Steenman had been a global buy-side analyst at LVMH-Group Arnault Family Office.
The move to Carmignac will see him reunited with fund manager François-Joseph Furry, who runs the Carmignac Euro – Patrimoine fund. Furry also currently works on the alternatives strategies team.
