Aviva Investors has bolstered its multi-asset team with a newly-created senior role amid plans to further strengthen its multi-asset and multi-strategy efforts, the investment company has announced.
Sunil Krishnan has been named head of multi-asset funds and will oversee the team managing multi-asset portfolios across institutional and retail clients.
Krishnan, who joins the firm in October from Santander Asset Management, will report to the group’s global head of multi-assets, Peter Fitzgerald. Krishnan also previously held roles at Hermes Investment Management, the BT Pension Scheme, and BlackRock.
In addition to this, the firm has also appointed Gavin Counsell as a portfolio manager on the €2.63 billion (£2.4 billion) Aviva Investors Multi-Strategy (AIMS) Target Income fund. Counsell has worked closely with the AIMS team since its inception in 2014 and will replace Nick Samouilhan, who is leaving the firm to pursue another opportunity.
Commenting on the changes, Fitzgerald said: 'Sunil’s appointment is a great sign of the ongoing success of our multi-asset proposition that we are able to attract someone of his calibre to our business.
‘I am also pleased to welcome Gavin to the Target Income fund management team. In my time working with him, he has demonstrated great skill and brings a strong performance record that will be highly beneficial as we continue to grow the fund.
‘We plan to further strengthen the multi-asset team and these new appointments are a key part of our intention to continue to build our capabilities in both multi-strategy and long-only multi-asset funds', he added.
