Born in Kazakhstan in 1972, Yerlan Syzdykov studied at Novosibirsk State University, specialising in economic cybernetics. As senior portfolio manager at Pioneer for emerging market fixed income, he has shifted his investment style from a benchmark-tilted style to an absolute return investment approach. He incorporates a top-down view into the portfolio with use of both cash and derivatives to manage duration and hedging. Outside of fund management, Yerlan enjoys football, skiing, chess and music.

The Master SubFund seeks to achieve capital appreciation and income over the medium to longterm by investing primarily in a diversified portfolio of U.S. dollar and other OECD denominated debt and debtrelated instruments issued by companies incorporated, headquartered or having their principal business activities in Emerging Markets or debt and debtrelated instruments
