Max Godwin was born in Columbo, Sri Lanka in 1965. He attended the London School of Economics where he gained a BSc (Econ) degree specialising in accounting and finance. Max started his career in 1998 as a small & mid cap equity analyst with Cazenove & Co in Tokyo. In 2003 he was the founding partner and an analyst for OAL Advisors Ltd based in Tokyo and advisor to the Rockhampton fund. Max joined Pi Investment (Hong Kong) Ltd in 2005 where he was a senior analyst and co-portfolio manager. He currently works at Eastspring Investments and specializes in Japanese Small Cap funds. Max is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Outside of fund management he enjoys swimming, sailing, diving and other water sports.

Objective

This Sub-Fund aims to maximize long-term capital appreciation by investing primarily in equity and equity-related securities of corporations, which are incorporated in, or listed in, or operating principally from, or carrying on significant business in, or derive substantial revenue from, or whose subsidiaries, related or associated corporations derive substantial revenue from Japan. The investment universe is the bottom third in terms of total market capitalisation of all publicly listed equity in Japan, usually with a market capitalization of under 300bn. The Sub-Fund may also invest in medium sized and larger companies in order to enhance its liquidity.
